Count your Blessings – Part 2
Psalms 9:1-10 ESV

• There are a number of great things that the Lord has done and is still doing in our lives. It is a blessing to take each one of them and thank God for coming through for us on it.

• We can write a book about the blessings that the Lord has given us.

• We should, therefore, not cease to think about the blessings of the Lord in our lives.

• There is no blessing too small that we cannot give thanks to the Lord for it.

• Every small blessing counts before God. It should count with us.

• We should recount every blessing that the Lord has blessed us with.

• David learnt the lesson of not taking the blessing of the Lord for granted.

• The ark of the covenant was captured during the priest Eli by the Philistines.

• When David came into power, he sought to bring back the ark to Israel.

• They went to collect the ark.

2 Samuel 6:5-7

• Uzzah learnt the hard way that nobody should take the things of God for granted. God had said that the ark was to be carried by the poles on the side (Exodus 25:14, Exodus 37:5, Numbers 4:15). This means that no one was to touch the ark with bare hands.

2 Samuel 6:8

• David also learnt a lesson to respect the Word of the Lord.

• We should not be reckless with the things of God.

2 Samuel 6:9-11

• I trust that the Lord blessed the house of Obed-edom while the ark remained in his house because he respected the ark of the covenant.

2 Samuel 6:12-15

1 Chronicles 15:25-26 ESV

• Seven bulls and seven rams, can it mean that every certain distance they sacrifice a bull or a ram?

• Sacrifice was showing a heart of thanksgiving.

• When they sacrificed, they were thanking God that they have carried the ark and have not died. Every time they move a distance and nobody has died, they would stop to sacrifice and dance before the Lord.

• David and his men were counting their blessing every step of the way.

• We should count our blessings as we progress in life.

• Continual thanksgiving is vital to our spiritual wellbeing.
